The topography of the area varies from moderately steep to broadly rolling with an average slope of about 30 feet per mile. The soil type in the watershed areas is primarily clay and sand, which can produce short duration, intense flows.

 

Climate in the Area
Enjoying over 300 days of sunshine a year, the Blue Agate Ranch has a semi-arid climate with an average temperature of about 50 degrees F. The area realizes about 16 inches of average annual precipitation. Eight percent of the precipitation occurs in the form of rainfall during the spring and summer months.
